probably the most chili peppers song i've ever recorded, complete with slap bass. i kinda wish the song was recorded with a little more care; it would've been a track i'd be really proud of.
that's not to say i don't like the track, but it is fairly lazy in its execution.
it was written about a girl, about a night spent wandering down after a party to whaley lake, where i'd grown up. named after a fish seen on my hawaii seafood poster, one of very few things my dad left behind, named as such because that girl had vacationed in hawaii with her family that summer.
the chorus has always stuck with me and i would try a few more times in the future to give it a place to shine. unfortunately it only ever found its home here.
